<Saturnine> Guys <Saturnine> Its <Saturnine> Time <Saturnine> To <Saturnine> !praise <Laila> PRAISE LORD GABEN
Buy it.
Risk of Rain is a platforming RPG Procedural Death Labyrinth rogue like with great art and a great soundtrack. Buy it.
HOLY SHIT BUY IT. EVEN THE ACTUAL OFFICIAL SONIC THE HEDGEHOG TWITTER ADVERTISED FOR YOU TO PLAY UNDERTALE.
These are EXTREMELY good Russian daily life simulators with really engrossing gameplay and environment and stuff, they are very very good. If you get only one, flip a coin between Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat. CoP is more open world, SoC is smaller levels, a bit more linear, both are spectacular.
Also, before someone calls me out on calling the STALKER series Russian daily life simulators when it takes place entirely in Ukraine, my response to you is: Exactly.
Not nearly as good as the book, and it isn't even as good as the show. One of Telltales' misses.
Civ 5 and it's expansions are spectacular, I strongly recommend them if you have concluded that you have too much time that needs wasting. Beyond Earth isn't QUITE as good, but it's pretty cool. I'd recommend the expansion for the BE as well.
Create your own siege weapons! Was temporarily way popular on reddit and stuff, but died fast. Can be really fun if you like creativity, and the price is low enough to take a drive by look.
It's awright. I s'pose. Some people like these RTS', but they're a bit... much for me. Instead, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is a first person magic/stealth/fighting game with a really satisfying combat system in which you murder hundreds of orcs by kicking them into spikes, into pits, into fires, or all three at once. Really, really good!
Morrowind is great, Oblivion not so much, Skyrim is the latest hotness, but Bethesda hasn't had good setting ideas since 2002, though the Dragonborn DLC isn't too bad. They're still fun though, lots of good mods make all Bethesda games better. Apparently ESO is an MMO that's pretty good, surprisingly! I'm not into it though so I can't say from personal experience.
Loads of people LOVE the Killing Floor series of over the top science experiment killing action - but despite trying several times I haven't been able to get into it. I seem to be the exception however.
City building franchise - don't get the older ones there's no reason to, just get the latest hotness.
Another really good city builder that you may want to check out.
These are really popular Polish depress-o-fests! The Witcher 1 feels really clunky now, but you may find it worthwhile to check out - they have massive discounts. Witcher 2 is where the series really hit its stride and became popular. Witcher 3 is where it got popular like when people realized Dark Souls was a thing after Demons Souls and Kings Field started the slow burn. It's half off so if interested go for it I guess! It won awards and shit that Undertale got snubbed for.
The latest, and last (Rip Konami. Except not, fuck you) Metal Gear game, and is almost as much of a departure from the rest of the series as Metal Gear Rising Revengeance was (Revengeance is EXTREMELY good and I highly recommend it if you like anything along the lines of Bayonetta and Devil May Cry and stuff). Anyway, MGSV is an open world stealth game that's much lower on the crazy cutscenes than the rest of the series - really top quality stealthing and base building action, including player base invasions that are getting pretty good and interesting, though the competition gets way hardcore.
Super super WAY well regarded procedurally generated death labyrinth that game designers LOVE THE SHIT OUT OF. I haven't gotten into it, but I hear nothing but good things about it.
Artsy walking simulator where you figure out a mystery! Is a pretty good game, but if you're looking for action and skillful gameplay, this won't be it.
Pretty good, actually! And at 5 dollars is worth it - one of telltales hits.
I know nothing about this actually! The reviews are alright though, and it's by Suda 51 and stylish as hell, so I guess look into it!
I guess this is one of those WW2 RTS'. I think there are probably better out there for this, Like Company of Heroes. Still if you like that kind of thing, go for it.
See the title.
A Tower defense game that's pretty good! I'm not too into them myself.
Eh. Skip it.
A pretty good single player zombie survival game! Despite my dislike of zombie survival games, they did a pretty good job with this one.
Uhhhh, steam reviews are positive? It looks a bit much for me.
Massively advertised RTS ~'experience'~. It's not too special, but I'm sure it's fun enough if you're into the RTS thing.
It's Quake, and it's live. Live means online. If you're a hardcore Quake junky (which if you're into Hawken, is actually pretty likely) this may be your thing.
Saturnine's thought process: "Hmm, dunno what this is, let's look into it." *EARLY ACCESS* *SPACE* *SURVIVAL* *ADVENTURE* *BUILD*. "Wow it's like they combined everything possible to ensure this game will never come out and will never turn out good." Steam reviews look positive, but they may be in Stockholm Syndrome.
The Devil May Cry games are pretty good, actually! Except 2. Skip 2. If you liked Revengeance, there's a pretty good chance you'll like these games too! DMC 1 is more different than the others because it's basically the first of its kind, and they started refining from there. DMC 3 is great, and so is 4, but hardcore series fans don't like it for poorly articulated reasons.
Actually a pretty damn good RPG? Why is it so good? Obsidian made it. Dirty humor of course, so if you have sensitive ears and eyeballs, now you know.
A very good western style RPG. Why is it good? Obsidian made it. I kickstarted this - and it turned out to be a very good choice! This game is great, and it has an expansion that is also great.
Great for milsim stuff, though I personally don't really get into it, I like the videos that come out of it, like with Dslyecxi's and Taconic's youtube channels. Arma 3 is the latest hotness.
Hilarious and good and is made by Valve, from back when they made video games.
The Dawn of War 1 and 2 RTS' are extremely good, and have some unique gameplay elements that set them apart - more squad level than nation level or whatever. Loads of people love them. Space Marine is over the top ork killing action and is good mindless fun.
Since it's in the Warhammer franchise (but NOT 40K), I'll also mention Vermintide. Vermintide is like Left 4 Dead with fantasy characters and giant rats, and some RPG elements. Actually pretty good, though the discount is disappointing.
Really good stealth/magic/fighting game kinda like Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, but with a heavier emphasis on stealth and magic. Very very good.
Didn't think I'd mention this did you? Actually a surprisingly fun fighting game, and the story is actually fun to play through too! It continues from the last game, just called Mortal Kombat/Mortal Kombat 9, which rebooted the series and was also fun. Over the top gore and shit.
Was really hyped for a while, and then didn't quite meet expectations at release. Is still actually a very good game, very good looking, and has very unique gameplay ideas, and at 5.99 it's worth it for sure if you're interested.
Randomly generated heavily distilled Metal Gear style stealth game! Not a huge amount of story and such, but if you enjoy stealth this could be really good for you.
A Metroidvania with extra Giger and an interesting gameplay twist. A very pretty game, very well recommended, though the dev could do to be less stingy about the size of the deal.
Buy Alien: Isolation instead. Does it better in every way.
Really good looking tactical strategy game that also has an interesting story.
Great party game, great for when you only have a little bit of time to play, very funny, good level design and such. Had a really hilarious run at AGDQ 2014.
Hey! If you're thinking of buying Elite: Dangerous - they're doing something rather shitty! They just released an expansion called Elite: Dangerous Horizons, but it's only an expansion in that people who only have the base game need to buy it. You can just buy horizons and get the whole base game plus the upcoming 'season' of expansion content. So if you're thinking of getting into Elite, do so through Horizons.
Bad news is that horizons is not on sale - it's 60 dollars BUT If you buy the base game, you get 15 dollars off horizons (but not for much longer, it's limited time). Interestingly enough, the base game is... 15 dollars
